What is Architectural Concrete?

Architects will receive one (1) CES Credit

The course will provide an overview of decorative concrete applications, will discuss elements that can affect the appearance of architectural concrete, delineate key construction and specification issues, and address sustainable applications. The course was created and is presented by a committee of industry experts from disciplines including: concrete production, concrete color manufacturers, and top decorative concrete contractors from the metropolitan Los Angeles area.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completing this program, the participant should know how to:

  • Understanding what elements can affect concrete’s appearance.
  • Understanding the proper construction elements of architectural concrete.
  • Learning the many finishes and colors for architectural concrete.
  • Proper specification of architectural concrete.

In order to see all of the architectural concrete mentioned in this presentation, the event will include a tour of the facility of San Diego’s premier architectural concrete contractor

President’s Message

ACI held our annual social event on July 14 at Seau’s Restaurant. The event was a big success. We had the most diversified attendance I can remember at an ACI social event. Engineers, material suppliers, city officials, students, ready mix producers and contractors were all in attendance. We all enjoyed a beautiful San Diego night, drinks, appetizers and the Baseball All-Star game. It was a great opportunity to interact with industry professionals outside of the work environment.

I’d like to remind everyone of the abundance of information that ACI makes available to our members. Please take time to visit our local chapter’s website at www.aci-sandiego.org and national’s website at www.concrete.org. On our local website you will find our membership roster, which is a who’s who guide to concrete in San Diego. Also on our website you will find a calendar of upcoming events, and information on our library.

August we have no events scheduled.

On September 15, we get back to business with our course on Decorative Concrete. This course provides an overview of decorative concrete applications. It is also a chance to talk with a wide range of experts in decorative concrete all in one place.

On October 2, the ACI has our annual Golf Tournament at Twin Oaks Golf Course. This is a great tournament and our major fundraiser for the year. I hope to see everyone at there.
